What is Mental Health?Mental health refers to the state of one’s psychological and emotional well-being. It is a necessary resource for living a healthy life and a main factor in overall health. It does not mean the same thing as mental illness, but poor mental health can lead to mental and physical illness.
Taking care of one’s mental health is as important as taking care of one’s physical health. It involves knowing and accepting that life can be challenging, setting realistic goals, accepting oneself and others, recognizing and understanding that everyone has both positive and negative feelings, creating a sense of meaning in life by learning and trying new activities, creating healthy, trusting relationships with people who accept and support you, and building a supportive community. |
